Anchorage Eagles Open Season 2-0 After 4-2 Win Over South Anchorage

Unalaska Raiders athletes collected gold and silver medals at the 2026 Native Youth Olympics inside the Alaska Airlines Center. Those performances added to the summer sports calendar at the same downtown venue that regularly hosts regional events.
The Anchorage School District has put forward a budget proposal that would cut middle school sports and some teacher positions because of flat state funding. The plan remains under discussion and has not yet altered current team schedules.
Baseball clubs post early July results
In the Alaska Baseball League the Anchorage Bucs beat the Peninsula Oilers 10-7 on July 6 and the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks 4-1 on July 7. The Bucs also won two games on the July 4 weekend, 6-4 against the Mat-Su Miners and 6-4 against the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks.
The Anchorage Glacier Pilots lost 3-2 to the Mat-Su Miners on one Thursday but defeated the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks 3-2 the following Saturday. The Anchorage Wolverines split a weekend series with the Kenai River Brown Bears, winning 4-1 on Friday and losing 3-1 on Saturday at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex.
